I have a 22 gallon cadlight (with new sump as well) with a octopus bh-100 skimmer. I was thinking (long term and in the end) my list is:
    3-4 chromis
    b&w clown
    6 line wrasse
    royal gramma

    too much? good?

ok i know this is going to cause debate over bioload and depending on you clean up crew and filter ex.... it dictates how much livestock you can have in your tank. and once you tank is done cycling you dont need to wait forever just do a slow build up. also is it a coral of FOWLR i personnly like the six line wrasse and another good fish is a green clown goby. a good site to check out it liveaquaria.com it has a whole section devoted to nano tanks. good luck

Here's my own personal opinion, so do take it with a grain of salt. ;) And please don't think I'm coming across as rude. It's hard to express tone in type.

I think that is a bit overstocked for 22 gallons. I have a clown and a royal gramma in 37 gallons and they are both very active and swim all over the tank. I think they could get easily overcrowded with other fish in only 22 gallons. And they both get fairly large, though it does take quite awhile.

I think 3-4 chromis is too many for a 22 gallon, especially with all the other fish. The are very active and school around the tank. I think the wrasse would be okay, but my LFS owner cautioned be about putting a wrasse in my 37 gallon.

If I were you I would nix the chromis and go for the clown and royal gramma, or clown and six line.

But of course it's up to you and let us know what you decide!

I would go with the clown, royal gramma and something else really small like a neon goby. Your just not going to get the full experience of schooling chromis in a tank that small, and you would probably run into aggression issues with a 6-line in such close quarters.

    2 chromis or b&w clown
    and
6 line wrasse or royal gramma

I tend to agree a wrasse in that size might get kind of mean. I can assure you the gramma will. those things are violent IME. I won't be getting another gramma.

I'd go w/2 bw clowns and a blenny or goby.
    or
wrasse and a blenny and a goby

My royal gramma is awesome, but I can see that a gramma could get aggressive in too small of a tank. They are very protective over their food and home. Lots of mouth opening (like a bass) at feeding time in my tank! :)
