Hi everyone , yesterday night i went down after the lights were off to see how my pods were doing, and found some tiny baby crabs ( bad crabs ) instead. therefore i need to do something to control their population!

is there any fish i can add to my 190 reef that will eat crabs but has a low chance of eating my ornamental shrimps? ( fire and skunk ) as they are pretty big with LONG long whiskers ;D

    perhaps something like nigger trigger?

I've heard hogfish eat crabs...but I'm not sure. I was interested in a yellow candy hogfish and my LFS guy told me when it gets older it might eat my hermit crabs. But they might eat shrimp too!

Anything thta will eat the crabs will eat ornamental shrimp. A niger trigger most likely will not touch the crabs, as they are not part of its natural diet (they are planktivores).

you could lean a glass bottle on the side of a rock and have a piece of food in it. when the crabs go to get the food htey will be forever stuck until you get them out. you have a 190 gallon tank so it wouldnt hurt water quality either. good luck.

Don't worry, shrimp can get out.

Unfortunately, they usually escape with the bait lol

    Probably the shrimp too.

The glass trap is probably your best bet.
