Ok I guess this isnt really an emergency cause this little guy has survived now for over a month, but my purple psuedochromis is trapped inside my Megaflow overflow. Its impossible to net him out with the plumbing in there and with my canopy and the way everything is situated I am at a loss of ideas to rescue my comrade? Suggestions

Oh no. That fish is ridiculously hard to catch anyways. This is a far stretch but maybe it will give you an idea of your own. Get some bridal veil or cut an old net off of the rim. Take a couple metal scewers for roasting marshmellows. Push the net to the bottom past the fish then open the net using the scewers and pull it back up.

Hope that helps you get an idea. Good luck.

Thats a good idea. Someone at work suggested a wet vac. I was afraid of hurting the little guy though

what does your plumbing look like underneith? as in the return to tank and from the pump. If its a straight shot from the bulkhead without too many 90 turns or valves let one drain the overflow chamber by pulling the standpipe out. Chances are that the little guy will just go for a ride and be fine. I used to have a stupid clown fish that I would have to get out of my sump about once a week and he was fine every time.

Yeah its just the basic pvc standpipe and underneath is plastic tubing not PVC with no 90's. I guess I'll try this tonight

good deal. I would recommend using the larger overflow one. You will get more flow and you dont run the risk of forgetting to remove your pump before letting the water go which could be bad for the fish. goodluck

YUP, just flush him down the drain and be at the bottom with a waiting net. Easy as pie to catch one this way.

Update. Wish I would have thought about havin the net ready poor gu got caught in the filter sock then I managed to dump him into a pitcher of salt water where he jumped out and into the sink! Luckily got him into the main tank but he abruptly headed for the rocks. This fish survived in the overflow for a month so I know he is tough, I just hope he wasnt too traumatized and is out when I get home from work today

He's probably very stressed out, but at least he's back in the tank. Keep us updated as to his progress.
