Hello all, I just got a beautiful Radiant wrasse from my LFS on wednesday. I personally did not see him there (a friend was picking him up). She said he looked healthy, clear eyes, normal respiration rate, no discoloration. He is now in my 55 reef with a Bicolor Pseudochromis and an Ocellaris Clownfish. He is the most beautiful Radiant wrasse I have seen (online and in person). He is very active and is eating frozen mysis. The only thing is, every 3-15 sec., he twitches. Sometimes it is his head twitches to one side; sometimes it is his anal fin. Is this stress, a parasite, or something else? I don't know.

    Thank you for your help.

I have two wrasses, a 6 line and a flasher wrasse, and they will twitch now and again. Is it very fast? My 6 line will swim near the bottom, twitch quickly and go on his way. He sometimes stirs the sand up, so it may be something to do with finding food?

I don't think has anything to do with finding food. He will do it when he is swimming or doing anything. Its fast, but its just once; like a cough w/ out opening his mouth. By the way, how much of a jumping risk are Radiant Wrasses? And about how many fish can I keep in this aquarium (55gal, 70lbs live sand, 55-60lbs of live rock)?

He is a jumper I asure you cover your tank. I have a tang that gets hiccops once in a while sounds crazy but I think that is what it is. I was told about 1 inch per gallon. you need to calculate at full grown fish size they grow you know.

One inch per gallon is waay too much. That would be 10 5 inch fish for him. Just plan carefully and add accordingly, making sure everyone gets along and there is plenty of food and swimming room. There are all sorts of strict rules out there for fish size but I think most of them are way too conservative. Do you have a ground probe? May be stray voltage if not.

No. The clown fish does his wiggle thing when he feels threatened. But that's normal.

I think that he/she has 2 of them on his/her right pectoral fin. They are very small though. I have not encountered ich before, what are its symptoms and effects? How big are the spots?
