Some of you may have followed one of my threads a couple of weeks ago about an algae bloom in my tank. Well I decided to donate my nem to a friend and did a bunch of water changes, and the water cleared up after about two weeks. The weird thing was the water levels were consistently at zero. The ph was around 7.8, but now its back at 8.1.
Thanks for all the help. You guys sent me in the right direction as to how to fix my water. The water is crystal clear tank looks healthy again. I lost a small hermit crab, but other then that all my snails and hermits survived. The snowflake eel has grown almost two inches since i bought him, I think i'm going to have to bring him home to my seventy five gal sooner then i thought.

Is it bad to feed frozen foods to my fish on the regular? I feed the eel frozen pieces of shrimp.

Is there a cleaner way to defrost mysis shrimp and feed them to your fish? I have a whole bunch in my freezer but i dont use them because im afraid of the excess waste.

    Thanks again guys

Good to hear your tank is doing much better!
I feed 1 1/2 frozen cubes a day. And your right to think the cubes come with excess waste. So what I do is let the food dissolve in a cup of tank water, then discard the water and refill cup with tank water again. This method gets rid of most of the junk but not all.. But what i have noticed is that the junky-food-waste gets pushed to the top of my turkey baster when its in the tank so instead of just blasting out the food from the baster I slowly discharge it and then the waste water is left behind in the baster where I then discard that into a separate cup.
Sorry for the awkward directions.. I dont know how else to explain it :p

I use a brine shrimp net and place the cubes in there and run ap water to melt the cubes then feed. But that's me.
