I purchased a flame angle well over a month ago. It has been doing great in my 30 gallon tank. He eats algae and goes crazy twice a week when I feed Rods.

Last night it was actively swimming and colorful. Today breathing hard, lighter skin color and hiding in the rocks on his side. I am pretty sure he is a gonner but am curious as to what would have happened.

    PH 8.2

    Stocking:
    2 clowns
    2 chromis
    open brain
    maze coral
    torch coral
    trumpet coral
    green stars

I did notice that the flame was messing around with the torch coral last night. Is it possible that it was stung badly. Normally the fish avoid it.

I don't want to take the chance and move it to quarantine and stress it out more.

Any marks on the fish. Typically, if they are stung by coral, you can see a mark. It is certainly a possibility that it was stung.

I can't get a good view of it right now, but from what I can tell, one side of the body is white where it was red before. like white blotches.

it's certainly possible it got stung. Most of the time, critters are smart enough to stay away.

all of the others stay away from what I can tell. but the flame last night was right on it. I hope that is what it was. everything was great up until this morning. Its laying on its side right now still breathing. I tried some rods soaked in garlic but it didn't take anything. I never have any luck with dwarf angles....

I had the same thing happen, a while back, with a yellow mimic tang. One day, he was perfect and eating like a pig. The next day, I found his body on the bottom of my tank. He hadn't been dead long as the cuc hadn't even started on him. I hadn't had him but bout a month or so as well.

What does one do if a fish seems to have gotten stung by a coral? Is there a dip of some sort you can do to help ease any of the harmful results of the sting? To the op, it's really weird how fish sometimes just die for no apparent reason. I'm sorry to hear about your flame, they are such beautiful fish.......

any new additions? I assume with the corals listed that you haven't been playing with copper.

no copper contact. the torch coral is almost 5 months old in the tank. the open brain is the newest addition about 3 weeks.

All other fish are doing good.
