So I have this Beautiful rainbow colored brain, when I put it in the display a few months ago it was blown up and wonderful, over time noticed it was always staying withdrawn - so I watched and I watched and finally saw my flame angel picking on it.
I put a clear cover with holes over it and it started blowing up again and is beautiful. I just took the cover off and the flame immediately went over to it and started nipping at it like crazy and of course it immediately withdrew....

Any way to stop the flame or am I just gonna have to get rid of him? He doesnt nip at any other and I the tank is well fed (maybe too well) -

    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

I think this is just something flames tend to do. Pretty fish, but can be a problem.

    This is from liveaquaria.com

The Flame Angelfish is a flashy addition to many aquariums. One of the most popular of the dwarf angelfish, the Flame Angelfish is a bold red/orange color with vertical black stripes highlighting the body and horizontal black stripes along the caudal portions of the blue-tipped dorsal and anal fins.

The Flame Angelfish requires at least a 30-gallon aquarium with lots of hiding places and live rock for grazing. The Flame Angelfish is prone to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. If the Flame Angelfish is to be added to a peaceful community, it should be the last fish introduced. The Flame Angelfish adapts well to aquarium life, but should be kept in an established system and housed with dissimilar genera. The Flame Angel is very sensitive to elevated levels of copper, and should never be exposed to levels near or above 0.15 ppm.

The Flame Angelfish is hermaphroditic, very difficult to breed in an aquarium, and has no distinguishable differences in color between male to female.

The diet of the Flame Angelfish should consist of Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other high-quality meaty items.

I had that problem with a foxface. He was fine for months but grew supa fast. I think his appetite just got to where he wasn't getting enough of what I put in the tank so he started eating the wellso brain.

ONce i find him a home its gonna be a pain in the butt to get him out. Someone once told me to buy a VERY VERY small fish hook and put a piece of mysis on it and literally fish him out vs chasing him out hehe.

There may be some other suggestions, so don't take him out just yet. Maybe there is some way to work it out.

Its SUPER pretty(the open brain), looks just like a rainbow, he eats like a pig when I spot feed him, would love to be able to remove the "protective bowl/cover" -

I will hold off and see if anyone else has any suggestions, he is about 2-3" long.

I would take him back. I have a coral beauty that likes mushroom leathers and zoas. Dwarf angels are hit and miss. They can be cool for years then become a problem. So back to the LFS is my recommendation.....Mine is going back in two weeks........
