Flame wrasse is crazy

well i go out into the livingroom, forgot to feed the fish this morning. and what do i see. my male flame wrasse...my boy, the one fish i play with every day. laying upside down in the sand near a rock. my heart sank... all i could think was NO ...not him, what happened to him! well i take the lid off the tank and go to grab him he swims off fast like i startled him, i guess he was sleeping! i put the food in the tank he comes out eats and does his normal dance across the water top, showing me how pretty he is. what a crazy fish he is!
i should have known he was ok his color was bright and normal. he gave me a scare though, hes nuts! .... thats my boy! lol

 

LOL, nice heart attack, NOT, congrats, I think, on having an alive, crazy fish.

 

I have had my blue hippo tang do that a few times and it has always been heart stopping.

 

That is supposedly common with them. Thankfully mine has not done that yet. It does swim in real strange positions though in the mornings before the lights come on.

 

yea..i was late feeding he probably thinking look im dieing of starvation here wheres my breakfast

i didnt know fish did that. its nuts!

 

would make you wonder whats up when you see that. till you have seen it and know thats normal

 

my canary blenny does it once a day, not suprising now

 

i have read some fish even swim upside down. i have just had this fish about three months now. hes so friendly, guess he is really getting used to his new home.
i have never had a fish lay upside down in the sand.

well today he added a new trick. almost everyday i play with him. hold him in my hand underwater of course, i pet him as he does his dance across the water surface, at times he spits water at me, and i fling a small bit back off my finger tips, for him to go underwater grab more and keep doing back to me. lately i have been busy. and havent payed as much attention to him as normal. well today im looking at the tank, not paying any attention to him. im looking for the count on sexy shrimp. mr flame flys out of the water right into my chest. than hit the floor. i was so shocked. i couldnt act fast enough to catch him. what in the world was that action about? as i said he is CRAZY! lol

oh the tank had been uncovered for hours, i left it off after i feed for him to play. since im in the room working on some things on line.
