OK guys... I need a check on my flow for my upgrade. I need advice, pointers, oversights... whatever.

This is going to be in my 300G display. It measures 78x30x36.

This will use several forms of flow.
First will be the closed loop. I am going to use a ReefFlo barracuda going through a Oceans Motions 4-way. Each output will be T'd in the tank and will alternate 1&3 to 2&4. The whole CL system will also be on a VFD (variable flow device) ramping the flow from 100%-40% according to my programming.

The second will be a pair of Tunze 6125's. These will be mounted towards the top of the tank and will rotate 180 degrees on a slow movement. This will be accomplished by the new SeaSwirl pump oscillators.

Third will be my pair of MP 40s. These will be mounted on the back of the tank and will be linked to the Apex supplying a variety of flow.

The return will be minimal due to the high head loss from the basement. Probably a 1000GPH or so.

Anywho... let me know what you think.. sorry for the long ramble.

sounds like plenty of flow...esp if you do an open rock work. You gave yourself plenty of flex, if it is too much you can notch it down need be. You did some great planning good job!

How are you mounting the Tunzes? Are you putting them in the rockwork? If so this looks good, but one word of caution:

I've got a Tunze toward the front of one of my peninsula tanks. What's the issue? The cord length! I ran the cord along the base of the tank then up the overflow and it barely clears the edge of the tank.

EDIT: I also envy your use of the Vortechs. I don't have room on the end of my tank to do that :|

Sounds amazing!! Can't wait to see how you mount the Tunzes and hide the wires. Overall it sounds amazing!

The Seaswirls will hold the pumps. They mount on top of the tank with an arm hanging down into the tank. The motor up on top spins the arm. I've been wanting to see some of these in use. It sounds like your overall flow plan is very good. Will you have loc line on the return and closed loop outputs? Could help get flow to any dead spots that arise.

Correct on the Sea Swirls Mikejrice. I have been in contact with Ed who will be getting them to me hopefully soon.

I will have a single lockline on each sump return and 2 on each CL return.

As for the MP's... we will see. The tank is 1" thick. Working on getting them to work with the thicker material. Contemplating a dry box for them, but hate to take up more tank space. Otherwise, there a couple DIY to get them to work.

As for cords... not worried. Will have a full hood for lighting and wires.
