I have been having problems setting up the flow in my tank. probably best described by pics, 55 gallon.
This is with emp280, koralia 1, moded maxi-jet 600. I loved this flow until I added some LPS (see next pic)

Then I added another emp280 so I could run carbon in one and phosphate media in the other. some LPS and other corals over a few months and the modded maxi-jet 600 seems to whip the frogspawn all around, and kept the duncan's about half closed. So, I took the mod kit off the maxi-jet but now I am afraid I don't have enough flow. Looking for sugestions????

    Thanks,

I would leave the modded maxi jet alone. I too have a 55 and have a maxi jet 1200 with the 1200gph mod on it and my flow I feel is almost perfect. I also have another reg. maxi jet 1200, 1 koralia 1 and my skimmer and hob filter adding to the flow. The way you have it placed is, IMO, a poor choice. I have mine on the side slightly facing up, to disturb the surface. It's only about 6-8 in. below the surface. My frogspawn is on the opposite side of the modded maxi jet, the one I just described, and it moves, but not too much, it seems to like it.

also on a side note, frogspawns, while adaptive to lighting conditions, usually need more light than what you have. Is it total 96watts?

I would aim for a flow rate of about 2200GPH. I like 40x turnover. JMO.

Thanks for the replies, I added the mod kit back on, and kinda put it behind the rock wall just below and to the right of where it was. aimed it at an upward angle and so far my frogspawn is alittle less inflated but I'm gonna give him a few days and see if he gets used to it. Yes guitar man you are correct on the lighting, I borrowed a Parmeter from a friend the other day and I get 185 at top down to about 55 on the sandbed, I'm thinking not enough, so lighting upgrade is on the radar now!
