Foram or not foram?

    I have these all over one rock in my tank:

    My initial ID is a Foram of some type? The Red Tree Forams I've seen are much brighter red, these are almost purple. Many of them have a very clear branching structure, and I've seen a few with hairs on them...

    So did I luck out and get a LR encrusted with forams, or is this simple coralline algae?

    if by foram you mean foraminifera, i doubt it, as those forams are microscopic (at least from what i got off wikipedia)

    i've got the same thing on some of my LR, and it comes and goes. i think it's a form of sponge that my angel eats.

    I started adding DT's and these things are going nuts. They're not harmful are they?
