Frag Rack?

ok guys i know what they are but why do we use them? i know they hold small coral frags but what does it do for the coral? is this something i should make for my tank? also do they have to be made of egg crate or can we use something else? thanks in advance.

 

I assume the frag racks are just more conveniant to organize and space the frags. Also allows you to move some closer to the light if needed.

I have seen them made of eggcrate, acrylic and fiberglass.

you can use acrylic but its cheaper to use egg crate my old one was egg crate hot glued to an old mag float
