SO I just got what I think is a frogspawn last night and it was looking good, I went to sleep at 3 am woke up at 6 am and looks like the darn peppermint shrimp did it again, most of the head is missing there are small bits but they look bad.

At first I was reading and thinking maybe it just sucked it's head in a little at night but this morning it's been under the light for an hour and still looks like hell... Only other things I have in the tank are a few dwarf blue hermits, sand burrowing snails, two clowns, and two dalmatian mollies.

    sg 1.024

    gh 180 ppm (as always)
    kh 240 ppm (as always)
    ph 8.0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 40 ppm
(sadly all of these are on test strips which I'm trying to burn through so i can go buy the api liquid kits.)

Testing ammonia right now on a liquid kit

I don't have kits for calcium or any of the other important things but I'm thinking this is purely shrimp nom nom. Therese a carapace stuck to the intake of the pump so one of them molted last night.

I'll try and get a picture in a moment. (first coral don't wanna loose it!)

pics will help and you should never add a coral with out knowing all your water paraments not trying to knock you down just being strait up. i dont think the shrimp had any thing to do with it. must be the water.

I would normally agree but i've had problematic shrimp and the coral was seeming to look just fine last night. It looks clearly torn not decaying.

see what i mean you can see the skeleton from in inside I've caught the shrimp killing snails so something that doesn't move wouldn't surprise me at all. their going away today just to be safe anyways.
It was expanding just nicely last night

I say throw another shrimp on the barbie!!

I've never had a peppermint shrimp and never will. I've heard too many stories like this.

Shrimp are contained in a breeder box
