    Hello everyone :),

So for about 3 or 4 weeks ago, i bought a beautiful frogspawn. When i put it in the tank, it immediatly started to grow and show great coloration. It has been doing very well untill today. I do not know if its damaged, or if its closed up, but to me it looks damaged. I'm ofc not an expert on this, so i need your help. I currently cant upload a picture, but i will be sure to do soon. The rest of the frogspawn is doing well, it eats, grows and colors up nicely. Please help! I want to say, that i cant see any dangerous hitchhikers on this coral, and i dipped it in revive coral dip before i put it into the tank.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It's only been one day and it's not open?

Try photobucket for free account and posting of images.

LPS do seem to have days when they do not open completely.

With all that said, we need parameters :Ca/ALK/Mag, SG and any detectable ammonia level.
    Current changes to anything?

It does seem like it has been "ripped" apart. I can see its flesh. Its like a hermit crab has been munching on the coral. However, i removed my 1 hermit crab over to my sump, and if the coral heals here in the next couple of days its probably just him being annoying. It might also be my peppermint shrimp, however he does not really even come close to the frogspawn (as long as i know). So it seems like it has been ripped apart by some sort of invertebrate. I do not have any fish, sooo... And the rest of the frogspawn is doing okay. So i'm gonna see what happens in for the next couple of days.

    For the water parameters:
    Nitrate: 0 ppm
    Ammonia: 0 ppm
    Nitrite: 0 ppm
    Phosphates: Very low
    Calcium: ~ 400 ppm
    Magnesium: ~ 1300 ppm
    Alkalinity: ~ 7 dkH
    pH: 8.1 - 8.2
    Specific Gravity: 1.025

So nothing is wrong with the water parameters. I think its the hermit crab. I'll check if the coral will heal again

Judging by your other thread, my money is on the peppermint shrimp.

They will rip open LPS to get food and they will eat LPS.

Man, i just dont know how to catch my peppermint shrimp. I think hes too catch with a net. However, he mostly shows up at night, which probably is the reason that i havent seen him touch any coral. Do you have any suggestions on how to catch this peppermint shrimp?

Maybe try taking a small water bottle, cutting the end off and trying to lure it inside with some food and remove that way?? Ive inadvertently caught my cleaner shrimp that way when trying to catch my sixline.

I'll give it a try. I want to catch him within a few hours, cause overnight he apparently can do alot of damage...

Chances are you won't be able to catch him with the lights on. I'd wait till the lights go out and try the bottle trap. Take a piece of krill or a silverside, shrimp whatever you want so it will stay in the bottle, tie the fishing line through a hole you make and wait. When it enters...Boom! Pull the string and cover the opening so it doesn't jump out.
