I have a forgspawn and want to see how he would do on the substrate instead of up on the rocks. My lights are a 6 bulb T-5 with 2 420 actinics and 4 18K daylights. Would he do good on the bottom? Or should I just do it and see. It only has 4 heads but has alot of stuff per head.
    thnx

    IMHO and IME

Your Frogspawn would be fine at sand bed level under 6 T5 tubes

my torch, hammer, elegance all did great on sand bed as far as lighting was concerned
    under my 6 lamp T5

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I always take the safe route and go low and move up. Lighting intensity varies so much from one tank to the next that you can never be sure what level will work initially for a corals.

If you have 250w of metal halide and the bulbs are 2 years old how can you even make an estimate of the intensity and the corals response. So playing it safe is the best practice IMO.

Agreed with above 2 posts. Place it low when it first gets put in the tank and then move it up slowly if you want it placed higher. I noticed with my Frogspawn, the parts that are closer to the light, seem to loose a little color or lighten up a bit.
