ive observed my frog spawn in a year grown from 2 heads to about 7 or 8. and the bubble always seems to come about as it is dividing its flesh between the old head and the new one. so my guess would be that if your parims are fine then it is just dividing heads, and it was already in the process of dividing long befor you purchased it.

fyi dont be discouraged they sometimes seem to look a lil shotty while they are dividing. (smaller)

and that looks like the same type of frogspawn as mine. mine also is extremely sensitive to any kind of blasting waterflow. opens best in a spot with barley any flow.

Thanks bluefish, I'm glad someone has seen something like this before. Now maybe I can sleep tonight. How long does it usually take for this process to occur. If this is truely a new head I will take pics daily to document it so others don't feak out like I did.

    Anyone else seen this?

hmm that would proly vary depending on light and water quality, along with other factors. 2 months maybe lil less.

but it could divide into 3 heads or 4 at once. i had one head look just like that and when it was done it had a total of 4 mouths. now they stopped splitting and are growing outward " branching out" growing more skeleton.

this was the coral i watched the most of any since it was my first coral. so im just talking from my personal observations.

Thats awesome. Like I said I will post pics at least daily in case someone wants them for reference later. Anyone got a ballpark on how long from bubble to new head?

Thanks again bluefish. and John. Should I continue to spot feed mysis and stuff to leave it be for a while? I'm pretty psyched now!

guess I won't post daily pics if we are talking weeks to months of time frame here. But I will keep a log if there is any interest.

you dont really need to feed them at all. i do feed them but only once in a while like once every 1-2 weeks, just blowing your rocks of with a turkey baster or power head should kick up enough food to feed them.

i like cyclopezee, for all my corals.(on the rare occasion that i add extra food to my tank for corals alone). but nothing wrong with mysis.
