Do i need to feed the frogspawn? If so how do I feed him, I never ever fed a coral before, thanks.

 

No they are photosynthetic so you do not target feed them - but you can (should) dose photoplankton. You can try small pieces of meaty foods and see if he will latch on to one....just for the fun of it. I heard of people chopping up shrimp and target feeding. But photoplankton is the most appropriate in my opinion

 

Frogspawn will catch random bits floating around. Mine grabs mysis all the time. I don't think they're equipped to grab phytoplankton.

 

Zooxanthellea are hosted within the body of the frogspawn and they have a symbiotic relationship. Most of the nutritional needs are derived from photosynthesis – this animal is very well equipped for the uptake of plankton. you can target feed as discussed, try it in the evenings when the tentacles are extended.

 

i was wondering if phyto would be too small as well. how about zooplankton?

These two concepts aren't entirely related. A coral can have the ability to take in (specific species of) phytoplankton and use them as their zooxanthellae without having the ability to digest them like food.

 

My frogspawn never takes food. But is doing just fine with just the lights. I have tried target feeding many times with no luck.
