i have a 55G with a 25G sump. i had tried peppermints in the past and made sure i got the real ones but they never touched a single aptasia. then my heater got stuck on overnight and i woke up to cooked shrimps! my cleaners were cooked and my peppermint was cooked! luckly my clowns stayed through it all even through my water got to almost 90 deg. i never added another pepermint again but maybe i'll try it.

I actually inject vinigar mixed with hot water and it always works.... sometimes they come back but I have been very successful with this method.

At this point I'd try the shrimp also. When these things start to reproduce the babies are extremely small. You will never be able to see all of them, but the shrimp should find them. If you want to help the shrimp out, I personally used aipstasia-x. I give them a little taste, they act like it's food, then blast them until they are completely covered. That way no pieces float around and take hold again, or the "seeds" get loose and start again. The lemon juice or boiling water method will kill them, but I think it runs the risk of helping them spread. I just killed one on a coral frag with aipstasia-x, then sealed it over with super glue. No worries about that one spreading.

i've herd people using glue or kalk paste over the aptasia but that sounds like alot of trouble to remove a piece of LR to squirt some glue on it? or am i missing something?

I've tried everything from shrimp to lemon juice. Aip-X is by far the most productive IMO and I swear by it now.
