im getting ready to go to lowes for some fittings for my sump that i need. my fuge the water just comes frome the outlet and drops into the fuge. should that be under water or just let it drop. i do get some bubbles but nothing to be concerned about. they are getting into the DT anyways. is this okay? heres a pic. do you have a drilled or overflow box? I know with my overflow box, i have my piping go underwater to my sump tank and there are a lot of bubbles. But I don't quite have my overflow box flowing to its full potential. fyi

im useing an old filter as an overflow and the water is coming out slow not like my sump. iwas just wondering if it should be above the water or inside the fuge. i also think my flow to the fuge is alittle strong not by much but thinking of turn it down. i do have plants on the way for my fuge so i dont know if that will make a difference or not.

If you are wanting a certain flow to your planted area or fuge, I would T off your drain line and control a flow to it, and let the rest drain either in your skimmer area, or return. They you'll be able to adjust it accordingly.

I would take the inlet all the way to the bottom of the sump then increase in the diameter of the pipe and turn it 90 deg and cut the pipe a few inches below water line. This will allow water to slowly enter sump and not be so loud.

I do it for both so I don't hear the water. I like the tank to be as quiet as possible. Especially the fuge because you want to water to almost be stagnate like a swamp.

As Otty has said I would take it below and cut the pipe on a diagonal to reduce backpressure. Also taking it bleow the water line will stop andy splashing, and any splashing will cause a ton of salt creep, and that's a pain IMO.
