    Its been done

I read another forum about someone who was in this same situation and the tape-sealed tent over the tank with a positive pressure airflow worked out well.

Don't think that the pesticide they use on a house is just like cigarette smoke or household sprays. Here in Virginia where I live, a family went back in their fumigated house too soon and they all died. We're talking serious poisons with household fumigation.

Also, tell the pest service what you are doing and that it is a big investment.

Ok, soooo...they're selling our house, and we just got word from our landlord that they have to fumigate before escrow closes THIS WEEKEND...I've read all 3 pages of this forum, and I'm still flipping out...as it is I have to take the tank down in a month for the big move. The pest control guy should be here soon to come and investigate the premises, and believe you me I'm gonna ask him all sorts of questions...
K...a recap...if I've got this right...buy a really good air pump (maybe 2?), seal up the tank, and pray? lol...soo, should I turn off my power heads & filter (canister)? I think I could still get a good tight seal over the cords & filter tubing if I leave them on. I don't have a skimmer, so no need to worry about that, and coincidentally my tank is near a small window, so fresh air via air pumps is not a concern either (unless it needs tenting--oh crap!!)...call me dumb but I'm just not getting this whole "pressurizing" thing...I mean I get it, but something's still not registering...and now that I'm writing this...I'm thinking yeah, unplug the power heads, but maybe not the canister? Anyone? Anyone?:confused:

positive pressure inside the tank.... ie pushing the"tent" you made up in the air, will keep air from entering the tank other than what the air pump is putting in. Put the air pump OUTSIDE so only fresh air goes into the tank. Canisters are closed systems, so keep it on. Powerheads are ok as long as they are not putting bubbles out.

ohhh ok, I get it now!! :square: great, thank you Annie, I knew it was something like that...one of my power heads does put out bubbles, so I'll unplug the other one, and keep my canister on...thanks again!

Hey guess what?!! Pest control just left...and I have great news! Woo Hoooo....so, apparently they DO NOT TENT in the desert, our termites are different from those on the coast, or high humidity areas, so tenting is not required! And our house passed inspection, so no spraying is needed either...just a minor repair in the master bathroom, there's some water damage on the outside of the tub, and because its a fungus (living organism) we need to fix it before he can clear the property. I just thought I'd share that bit of info with you guys...
