im posting this for my girlfriend we are changing her 55 gallon over from fresh to a salt water tank and have just put a fuzzy dwarf lionfish in quarintine and eventually plan to get a small snow flake eel for it too and were wondering of any other small possible tank mates? she loves puffers but i heard they nip at lions just like triggers, and they get too big, maybe dwarf angels? any suggestions appreciated

You know a small snowflake will eventually turn into a large snowflake right? Large enough to eat a fuzzy.

Angels will nip at lion fins.

These are some of the fish for our 60g

    Our Fuzzy Tankmates.

some larger aggressive damsels may be ok as well as boxfish

generally any aggressive fish that is larger than the lionfishes mouth should be fine

Lionfish are peaceful fish. They do better with peaceful fish than they do with aggressive. Boxfish are nippers and are along the lines of puffers in that regard. They are not a good lionfish tankmates. Sometimes it works, most times it does not.

Hubby says a maybe a ribbon eel or a golden dwarf moray. I'm not well versed in eels.

Our 15 year old snowflake had to be placed alone in a tank after it killed just about all its tankmates. The biggest fish it killed was a 6" Pink Face Wrasse. Took it's head clean off. We couldn't find anyone to take it... not even for free. We had it listed in the papers, asked all the LFSs and begged the local aquariums.... nadda. And Dood, I live in Los Angeles.... there are lost of peeps here. So you can never count on being able to give a big fish away when the time comes. He eventually died when a GFCI tripped and we noticed a week later... a very very cold week later.

all the lions ive seen have been in agressive tanks. and as for snowflake eels ive heard they tend not to bother any fish and most crustacean granted they are well fed....ive seen some tanks with small clowns and a snowflake sharing a tank

Ours was a model citizen as well..... but after about 12 years he got mean and had to be ousted. He was alone for 4 more after that and came up out of the tank and bit my husband who was working on the lights above. They die in most people's tanks before they reach that age or aggressiveness.

Lions aren't aggressive, why would they need to be in an aggressive tank?

that sucks for the eel and even more for your husband, eels have a mean bite

im not sure as to why, i am no expert but those who i have seen that have them they are in an aggressive tank....maybe so they arent able to eat the other fish?

They always get clumped in with the aggressives, but they are SO super friendly and trusting. They just sort of get mixed with the "Manly Fish" because they are venomous. But it's for defense, not offense.
