I have a baseball size Galaxia in my tank who was doing great until a few days ago. Now the polyps are barely open. The paramaters are all fine. I was wondering what else could be going on. I am only testing Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, and PH. Should I be testing for anything else. I use RO water for top off and water changes. I target feed daphnia and a dried coral food, with occasional target feedings of Mysid and chopped raw table shrimp. Any help is appriciated.

Make sure it is in a good flow area or you will have to take a turkey baster and blow it out every few days. It get stuff logged down in the coral and it will not open. Mine done the same thing until I got some good flow on it to keep it blown out.

I have a Koralia 2 that blows almost directly over it. I'll try the blowing it out suggestion.

Calcium and alkalinity are [STRIKE]important[/STRIKE] required to ensure healthy skeletal growth. And you can't maintain those without also supplementing/testing magnesium. Magnesium also benefits the corals.

Thanks. So Calcium, Magnesium, and Alkalinity. Is Alkalinity the same as GH or is that a different test? What do I want those to test at? Is pickling lime good for calcium supplament? I have tons left over from an aptasia invasion from a pice of LR from a LFS.

GH is general hardness which is a freshwater test. Here is some good reading.
