In doing my reading I have seen alot of stuff about putting garlic in the fish food. My question is since the Kent Garlic stuff at the pet stores is $22 for a tiny little bottle, whats the difference in that stuff and the garlic I can get at the grocery store? Can I use the stuff from the grocery store to soak their food or should I get the kents stuff?

Bought some marine snow and some Zoe the other day and wanted to start the garlic as well.....aslo if the garlic from the grocery store will work what about the seaweed sheets that are used for sushi?? Can those be used in place of "Fish" seaweed?

Have I met my question limit yet, ;D told you guys when I signed up I would be asking a ton of them.

    Thanks all for the help.

I use chopped garlic from grocery store, just using the juice, no oil in it, and soak food in that. The nori in grocery stores usually is toasted or roasted. Health food stores carry dried natural seaweed that's cheaper than pet stores.

$22 for Garlic Extreme!?! That's ridiculous! My little bottle was $12...that little bottle is potent!

The Kent garlic goes along way and is very potent. You won't want to bother with the fresh garlic after you get a whiff of the liquid garlic and realize how strong it is. My fish love the stuff, they smell it in the water and start looking around for the food. But $22 is too much. You might want to try purchasing online if your LFS is that expensive. Also you can buy nori at the store, just be sure it is just dried sea weed not toasted or roasted. When I had my powder blue tang he loved that stuff. And the best part is if you have any left over...its sushi time!

I bought garlic cloves from the store and threw it in the blender with some ro/di water and blended it together. Then I skimmed all the partially chunky stuff off the top and had just the liquid garlic left.
You can also bu nori sheets that have garlic in them already.

Also, marinedepot.com is a pretty good online store. Pretty cheap and great community service.

Great! Thanks for all the tips guys, I'll check out both of those sites for the stuff. Double checked at Petland tonight and the Kent Garlic is $22....hmmm hope I can list the pet store name. So I'll see about ordering it online, none of the stores here sell any of the selcon or zoe anyway so I'll have to look online for that may as well get the garlic at the same time. Thanks again!

I purchase the large container of Spice World minced garlic from Costco. I only use the garlic juice and it costs only around $4.00 or so.
