Being that we have a massive storm heading our way it is making me worry about power outages. I have lived in this house for 6 years and we have lost power only twice. Once being some big shot in a Hummer,on ice, with an ego. He took out three power poles. Anyway, how many of you run generators for back up and has the cost of one been worth it?

I live in south Florida, and we get them storms every year. Ass soon as the winds outside go 30mph, they automatically turn the power off were i live. So i found it necessary to buy a generator , but during the storm we cant use it, cause of carbon monoxide poisoning. So we basically put two small battery powered air pump in the fishtank. Be very careful because, when power is off, no water flow is in the tank, so the waste and stuff can become toxic, and kill all the livestock. As soon as wheather permits it, we run just the filter system(powerheads, refuge, and skimmer).

My brother on the other hand was out of town when a storm hit his house and he lost mostly everything because of no water flow and no generator.
Besides, i can run my whole fishtank, a tv, the fridge, a couple of fans, nebulizer for asthmatic family members and all i have is a 2500 watt Honda wich is fairly small!!

I've been procrastinating for the longest time about this so I think it's time to just do it.

    Thanks diggardens for the reminder.

I have already over done my Christmas wish list so I might hold off until after the holidays. I will finaly get a tax return this year so I will be one of the first to file. The generator will be my big exspence for the new year.
