    Get a butterfly fish.

What about installing some kind of temp light shield above the areas you want to kill.

peel off the big pieces and use kalkpaste on what's left on the rock.

I did the same thing to get rid of anthelia.

Be sure you turn the flow off or you'll get xenia pieces and kalk all over the tank (neither of which are very kul)

old pic from when I did that

Theres a much easier way to get rid of it without paste. Take a sharp piece of metal like a knife or something and start scraping the base of the xenia. Make sure you only scrape the base and it will just fall of. I removed about $500 worth if xenia from my tank the other day.

it is *likely* the xenia will grow back. depending on how smooth the surface is you are removing it from.

I start in this manner and then add the kalkpaste to the area afterwords.

If i'm just trimming it back (vs. completely removing it) I would just do like infamous said. (trimming it back, I mean removing stalks of growth, not trimming the branches back like tree ;))

To completely remove it without worry about it coming back, kalk is the way to go (or nuking... )

In soviet russia xenia gets rid of you.

Seriously tho, why not cut the stalks, skewer the bases with a toothpick and rubberband them to a frag plug? Plenty of LFS's around me will give store credit for any kind of frag, and after there all fragged you could do up some paste on the bases in your tank to kill whats left.
