GFO question

I was wondering how often you change your GFO, and how you weigh out the amount. I have been changing it about once a month and using a cup for a 55gallon. Just curious about how anyone else does it. Thanks

Bout like that, you could cut back to 1/2 cup and save money and still use it for the same length of time.

Have you been removing the GHA by hand as well if not it will get out of hand very quickly.

 

I change mine every 4-6 weeks and use at most 1 level tablespoon full, 10 grams, per every 10 gallons of tank water which is the recommended full dose from the majority of the vendors. Normally I run a half dose or 5 grams for every 10 gallons once the phosphate levels are under control and in the very beginning so I don't shck or bleach hard corals.

 

I use about 1/4 cup in my 55, changed about once a month.

 

I use a cup in my 125 gallon and change every 2 months. When I had hair algae and phosphates leeching from my dry rock, I used 1 1/2 cups and changed it once a month.
