So I have been getting some GHA popping in in numerous spots and slowly trying to kill it away. I moved a flat rock around and saw in about two days the GHA underneath was dead and gone. So this morning I turned off all timers and put a towel over the tank and plan to do so maybe for two days. I have one SPS and a few LPS corals scattered around. I assume those will be ok?

My real question stands: the dead matter of the GHA...will that cause more DOC when I turkey baster that stuff off or should I siphon it out? Not sure what step is next. I hate algae!

My parameters are 0.1Phosphate, 0ammonia, 10nitrate, 0nitrite, 8.2PH, 430Calcium, 25SG, not sure on MG right now, 80degrees and very steady with these numbers. Light schedule is 2hours actinic, 8 hours full.

I siphoned mine out when I had the outbreak. I used the Marine Land HOB filter to siphon them out.

I don't think that placing a towel over your tank is beneficial. It reduces air flow, air/water surface gas exchange, elevates carbon doixide levels which isn't good for livestock.
Maintain reduced levels of dissolved organics, phosphates/nitrates and increase magnesium levels. This means using carbon, increase filtration, water changes and herbivore additions.
