Hi everyone. After over 30 years of commercial freshwater ornamental fish farming, mostly on my own farms in South Africa and Australia, I recently published a 528 page book on the subject and am now sort-of semi-retired. So now I have time to read, learn some more about fish, and hopefully share some of my own findings from the past years.

My most interesting recent experience was hatching and raising (a small number of) weedy seadragons (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) in Tasmania, Australia - awsome!

Also just spent 2 weeks consulting on ornamental fish farming in India. Wonderful food...still cooling off...and got to see some of the beautiful native Indian fish in the wild.

Oh...I almost forgot...I am very much more at home working with fish than I am with posting on forums...this could be interesting...

I remember reading your blog a couple years ago. I found it while searching info on leafy sea dragons after seeing them for the first time on the Discovery Channel.

Welcome to 3reef! I hope you stick around, you will surely be an asset to this community!

welcome to 3reef! If you have any trouble maneuvering through the forum, please ask. I was totally clueless when I came on this forum. :) People were very helpful. What a wonderful way to earn a living - fish farming. I love just hanging out at our local one. I probably will need some freshwater advice - I want to set up my small backyard pond again this year. Last year was a disaster, I couldn't keep the fish alive and battled really bad algae. I was told it was a problem in the area last year with other people as well because our temperatures got so hot last summer. I hope we have a much milder summer this year! Ok, I've rambled enough.....welcome!
