    I think you need to get a battery or a new bit, it took me 2 or 3 minutes to drill each hole my 75 gallon tank.

    Oh, okay that makes sense. I got my bits off of ebay and they were pretty cheap too.

    Thanks for the advise and re-assurance everyone. My plan at the moment is to just go ahead and do this cheap DIY overflow I found in the stickies. I just dont have the money to break this tank. I will end up drilling a tank for refugium purposes under the tank later though. I thought it would be fun to make stuff out of pvc anyways.

    here are the minimum requirements in regards to distance for drilling glass

    x = 1.5 t
    y = 4 t
    t = glass thickness

    measurements are taken from the outer most edge of the hole closest to the edge of the glass.

    single hole along side: x from edge

    single hole near corner: x from first edge, y from second edge

    holes next to each other: x from edge, 4t apart

    holes next to each other next to edge: x from first edge, 4t apart, y from second edge

    heres a site for ya: http://www.diamond-drill-bit-and-tool.com/Diamond-Drill/MAIN.htm
