I do wish some folks would look at it this way. It seems those who choose not to participate complain the loudest.

It really is. I voted in the last fall for local issues, but today was my first presidential election. I waited in line at the student union with one of my friends for an hour and a half so we could vote. Glad I went.

I hadn't really done much research on the candidates for senate/house seats, so I left them blank. I won't vote for something if don't know what affect it will have.

I voted this afternoon!! Not a bad line at all! Hey, and I'm in Ohio so it seems our votes really could make or break the outcome. I'm so happy to see the young voter on here!! That you waited in line that long to vote is impressive. Seeing the young people vote always gives me a great feeling about our democracy!

Same here. I was brought up it was your civic duty to vote. I don't know if that is the right tack to take but at least appealing to someone pride in their country is a good start.

Just weighing in. In Australia, its illegal not to vote. Every person over 18 in the country MUST vote. Otherwise the fine is $75.

So really. Its not that much time out of your day to have a say in the running of your country.
