I just put a goby in. Forgot what kind it has a yellow head and clearish body.

He went in last night and hid this morning my water is really cloudy could he have done this?

golden head sleeper goby? I guess if he is stirring up the sand it could make it cloudy. I have heard of them making a terrible mess with sand. Not quite to make the whole tank cloudy, but I guess maybe. Do you see it at all or is it still hiding?

    Yep that's it!

I saw him earlier, and he picked a cave that you can still see his tail.

My water has never been that cloudy I've been battling diatoms the past few days they may be dinoflagellates.

hmm, I am sure someone more knowledgeable about these guys will chime in. I have never had one of them. I don't think diatoms would make the water cloudy. At least IME it has never made my water cloudy.

They are definetly bulldozers. How deep is your sand? Accumulated material could be brought up by his super sifting.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
When at a loss for info regarding fish, corals, inverts, liveaquaria can provide some decent info regarding care requirements.

Saltwater Aquarium Fish for Marine Aquariums: Sleeper Gold Head Goby

My personal experience with this goby is that they never stop sifting. Big time jumpers and need a larger established system as they run out of food quickly and really need some type of quality supplemental feedings. Regular fish food is not going to cut it.

If you have corals on the sandbed this is a fish to avoid.

What do you suggest as a feeding supplement?

From what I have read (on link from corailline), they eat live/frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, anything you would prepare for a carnivorous fish.

I have an orange spot, he sifts ALL day. He used to make messes, now he doesn't so maybe give him a few weeks.

They'll make a mess the first few days until they get everything the way they want it & get your sand cleaner. They'll rearrange after that, but it won't be as big of a mess since they've already sifted through your sand. My Diamond Watchman liked Formula One (or anything else I fed everyone else, including flake). Mine also would eat from the water column, unlike one I saw today that would only take food after it hit the sand, then would sift it out.
