Im currently running a JBJ top off unit. Works great. Just one problem, it cant run for more than 14 minutes, which wont allow the pump to refill the tank completly, defeating the purpose of the whole system. Its a tom aquatics pump.

So I would like to get a different pump that wont put five gallons (my reserve size) into the tank before the sensor will register it. But get the job done in under 14 minutes. Hopefully all this makes sense. Im pushing about 4 feet of head from the bottom of the bucket.

    thanks
    ian.

That seems excessive, what about the 1.5?

A Mag 5 will do it but why play if you want to fill a bucket and its 4 ft of head and you have a controller of some type to shut the pump down when the reservoir is filled to the proper level then why not just get it done and a Mag 5 is just a little cheaper then a mag 9. or Mag 7. if I recall a 1.5 can not be ran externally and has no threaded fitting so that it can be used for another application later on.. Thats why I'd go with a 7 to 9.5 a 9.5 can be used many ways for almost anything. I have one here now that I've used as a main pump to a top off pump to a skimmer pump to pump to drain tanks Now its a circulation mixing pump on a 55Gal barrel for mixing saltwater .

i use a sp3000 dosing pump.. its a drip and runs for most of the day on my 155g setup which evaps about 3-5 gallons a day.. but my ro/di water is 10 feet horizontally and another 8 feet down into the basement.. and the 3000 barely works.. another few feet and it fails...

Thats the problem with my pump, I raised the bucket it draws from and it has a steady stream now as opposed to a trickle.
