I have two 24" Odyssea fixtures with 250w DE MH's (please don't bash me, I actually like these fixtures ;D). I'm looking to replace the bulb in the fixture I am using now on my 20g reef. Startin' to turn a litte yellow. I've been using the same stock 15K bulb for about 2 years now, definitly not the same color anymore.
So what's the best brand and K rating bulb to replace it with? I think 20K may be a little too blue for me, but think a 10K may be too yellowish. I definitly want more of a blue tint than a yellow.

I was hoping you would still be on to answer this! Its funny, as I was typing the thread I was thinking to myself "It's pretty late, I'll probably have to give this a bump in the morning for Dingo to see" ;D lol.
Thanks man, just what I wanted to hear. K+

I took Dingo's advice and ordered me a Phoenix 14k bulb last night ;D. Found it for $56 plus $9 shipping. Hopefully that was a decent deal. Will post before and after pics as soon as I receive it. If I am happy with it ill be ordering another for my other fixture to put over my 75g.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have been running the same bulb (phoenix) for about 8 months now. Overall I really like it. Expect it to be very blue initially, but it will burn off after a couple weeks. It was too blue for my likes when I first got it and it took some acclimation so I did not burn my corals, so watch out for that seeing as you are replacing a fairly old bulb. :)

I really like Radium bulbs myself. Cant give an opinion on Phoenix, I have never used them before.

Got my new Phoenix 14K bulb delivered yesterday. Bulb is MUCH more blue than I thought it would be, but I really like it.

give it two weeks and your colors of your corals will really liven up. Also the blue will fade a lot once the bulb burns in. It usually takes less than 100 hours to fully burn in

I'll post a few more pics when the bulb burns in a little bit. I still can't believe how blue it is. Maybe I just have to get used to it. I couldn't imagine a 20k bulb.
