well after 1000s of attempts to take some decent shots of my mandarin Goby.. I finally got him!! :D

everytime i would see him i would ready up my camara and walk carefully (or really fast) but before i could snap the shot he would swim Away!! what a shy bugger..

but yesterday, as if he was posing, he let me take this 3 pics before he decided it was enough and swam away :p

I belive it has to do with the top fin on the sexing part. The males are somewhat larger than the females, have longer fins, and the first ray of the dorsal fin is about twice as long as the female's.

males will have a larger dorsal fin and slightly larger in size compared to female. dorsal fin on a female is shorter

If the mandarin is a male it'll have a spike comming from the front dorsal fin if not it's female.
    This is my female

This is a male - note the elongated first dorsal spine.
I have yet to get a clear pic of my male on display as his dorsal fins are usually down.
Just looked and someone posted while i was getting pics attached...ooh well I have pics and you don't :p ....LOL
