OK, had a small mushroom on a frag plug and it seems to have came loose from the base of the plug. It had a very small rock anchored to it so the current of the tank no doubt carried it away. Just scanning the sandbed I can't find it, it may have blown into my gobies den.

Question I have is there chance it survives and just re-emerges somewhere in teh tank or should I assume it to be buried and write it off?

Seems I've had a run of these damn threads lately. I would love to find it, but I"m not sure that tearing apart my rock work over a nickle sized mushroom is the best choice.

If by some miracle it avoided going into the black hole (goby house) it might make it but he has a pretty elaborate catacomb going on.

Steve34, i have a small (half penny sized) actinodiscus mushroom that seperated from the others. It isnt attached to anything. it just blows around in my 55. sometimes i see itt and sometimes i dont. it has been moving around for a few weeks. it's so little that i dont want to bother it. i have just let it go hoping that it will attach itself somewhere. hopefully this is of some help

If it went into the goby burrow, the goby might bring it back out when it gets in its way LOL.

It will live, i have some that came lose and now some are under an overhang. It went from a purple to a more maroon color. I thought that was cool. Still have some that hasnt reattached themselves yet.

I didn't realize how deep the burrow was until last night when I shined my flashlight into it from multiple angles.

I've been watching the current for just that reason. It's purple so I'm hoping to see a glimpse of it against the white sand.

He's a prolifit digger so my fear is that he's going to filter sand over it and bury it forever.

still have not found the shroom, but did find 2-3 more feather duster worms that I didn't know I had.

That could happen. My Diamond always moved rocks, snails, and crabs around if they were in his way. Watched him struggle to move a rock that was bigger than his head once while he was building a wall LOL.
