bout a week ago my rocks were covered in a brown slime. was told its cause its a new tank and still cycling. LFS told me to turn lights off for a couple of days and reduce my lighting time. which i did. i have a cannister filter rated for 70 gal tank, skimmer rated for 100gal tank and like some sorta 1400 pwrhead the LFS said would b the only 1 i would need. i have a 55 gal tank. i had bought a coral bueaty angle and a yellow eye tang so i bought freeze dried seedweed to feed them. none of my fish went after it so i took it out and havent used it since. like a day or 2 green algae came from no where. i have 5 small snails in atm. im useing ri/do water so i should have no phaspates. the wife cleans the glass every day and glass gets cover again within a day. what type of snails and how many would help me clean this tank up? if i need to buy more and some die im kool with that cause of the hermit crabs i have homes :). my nitrates and nitrites are in the middle. ive been useing stuff to help with bring them down so i dont see a problem there. now i may be or for sure feeding my fish to much but my fish eat most of it so i feed alittle more for the crabs and shrimp i have. and input would b nice b4 i go buy stuff to fix the problem. im going to use live stuff and no solutions to fix it cause tank hasnt been up for 6 months to a year. would emerald crabs help?

ITcould be a number of things if I could get an intemidate detailed list of your current readings and you feeding habits along with your husbandry haabits that might help.

You shouldn't have any nitrites, your cycle either isn't done or you caused another one by adding fish too soon.
