RHM had a nice article on crinoids. That would be ht sauce if you got one.

Nice Grim, Can't wait to see this build with some more pics. I can't wait to see if you can pull off that Crinoid.

Cool man, I always liked your SPS tank. You did well with it and definitely have a shot with NPS. There aren't many truly successful NPS tanks though, so, my .02 would be to get some easier stuff living first before jumping into the dendronephthyas and stuff. Also, I agree, the light will be tough will NPS, they are not exposed to light in the wild so much, so, may not have the chemical and physical defenses against algae overgrowth. Keeping them in the shade is probably very important, although, I think they can do well with SPS, if water quality can be maintained.

Anyways, I've always waned to do an NPS build, but this is great, now I can live vicariously through you without the work 8) haha, just kidding, it should be fun. Just automate things!

Coral magazine had one too. They are amazing. I'm not even going to attempt till I have had significant (6+months) success with Dendronephthea

I don't believe the actual cost is bad. Finding a healthy one is going to be the trick. I'm going to have to source it overseas and have it sent direct so it skips all the holding/death tanks.

Coming very very soon!!! I did most of the LED build last night and will post those pics today.

Mike Cao is a pioneer in the dark side of reefing. I'm using quite a few of the methods he uses, my feeding fridge is an exact replica of his.

    Thank you!!

Thank you!! I'm going to go in waves. Starting with LPS like sun corals and dendros, if they do well I'm going to add a black sun coral and a Rhizo.

After some success there I'm going to step it up to Gorgs and sponges.

I'm going to leave it alone and see a few months of succes with all that before I add a Dendronephthea. And I won't even think about a Crinoid till I have had a living growing Dendronephthea for at least 6 months.

I plan to have everything automated. I'll just need to manage the equipment (still a hell of a job) The feeding, water changes, and dosing/ato all will be fully automated. I'll just need to clean the scrubber, skimmer, and keep all medias and foods filled/replaced.

I ended up cutting 2 of the t5s out of the canopy so I'll have 2 t5s for light and I'll have a bunch of leds to tweak the color. I have all the leds on separate dimmers so I can keep the light levels pretty low. If need be, I can remove the reflectors from the t5s too.

This is the original layout of the canopy. (I purchased the stand and canopy from a reefer in my local club Portal - Bayou Reefkeeping - a Gulf Coast based reef club)

I took out 2 of the t5s and the center divider to make room for my leds.

Our project table and a good guy from my reefclub who did all the wiring for me!!

This guy really did a bang up job on these tri stars. 1 red, 1 royal blue and 1 green(or cyan) on each star!

Almost done!! With addicted2coral showing off his handy work!
