Took advantage of black Friday and picked up $400 in plumbing from BRS and a great deal on the largest SRO bio pellet reactor out there.

That's right... this build has already cost me $400 in plumbing and I don't even have everything yet...

I hit up BRS as well, got some odds and ends. My tank plumbing must have cost $500, it's amazing how much all that stuff costs, LOL. I am thinking of setting up a nice little nps tank of my own, I want to see how yours goes.

When my wife told me that I had spent over $1,000 in plumbing parts at one point, I thought she was kidding.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. I can't believe plumbing this 65 gallon tank has become so much more expensive than my 210g.. It's amazing how much has to go in to these non photosynthetics.

Looks like I'm going to end up with an ETSS 1500xr instead of the 2000xr. I found an ETSS 1000xr with the addon to make it a 1500xr on ebay and I'm about to win it! Saved me a TON of money. Like $1500+ bucks over a new 2000xr and should still be more than enough for any tank I upgrade too. I'll run it with the same pump I was going to run the 2000xr. (after reading more I think this will actually work better, I really would have needed a 1/2hp pool pump to drive the 2000/2500 right.)

I've done a ton of reading on ETSS skimmers and i bet its exactly what you need.

I think so too. Lots of contact time and single downdraft tower should make tuning easier.
