Growing on CandyCanes...

    About a month and a half or so ago we noticed that there was something growing on our CandyCane Coral and it turned out to be a Kenya Tree Leather (yeay us!!!) NOW theres something else growing and we again aren't entirely sure what it/they are. Help us ID this please:)

    If you're talking about those little brown things that look like miniture palmtrees or polyps, they're hydroids. You could mix up some kalk paste and apply it on them.

    I looked on Google to see if i could find any pictures with something similar in them and i did:) seems it most likely is Lobophora

    how is this an nuissance algae? what does it do? how does it harm my ecosystem? There isny very much about this on internet and it does not seem to do harm.

    yeah if anyone has more info on this type of algae please fill us in.
    it's about the third type of algae in the tank...i'm kinda concerned!

    It tends to spread and overrun things you want in the tank though not as fast as cyano hair or bubble algaes. You've also got what looks like. a family of hydroids, or aiptasia there as well. Any chance of getting a picture that has better light? I'm looking at the circular growths with tentacles down left of center.
