Do you mean the kenya tree? There is also about 30 clove polyps that are about 3-5mm in diameter on the branch as well.

It's really not all that bad of an algae, IMO I would much rather get this stuff than ANY other algae. The only real problems is that it can take over if your slower than a sloth at manual removal. I have had it before and it was one of the lowest growing algae I have ever had. On the other hand, it really doesn't look that great, kind of like an elephant ear.

i thought that was aiptasia.. wich i was told to use a poweder to kill it... was also informed that with aiptasia if u just rip it off that it has the chance of spreading faster....idk for sure but that was information a lfs shared with me.

This is true, with Aptasia there is a chance that it will reproduce when you rip the head off (or so i've also been told) the most effective way I've found to remove Aptasia is to take the entire rock that it's inhabiting out of the aquarium and leave it in fresh water or let it dry out. yeah it kills pretty much everything on the rock but the aptasia goes away and aptasia can easily overrun a tank and make it look like well not great!!!

This will work, but the die off from adding the rock back to the tank can cause an ammonia spike, or worse. NEVER cut or scrape an aiptasia in your tank. It will shoot out this white stringy substance and then they will spread like fire. There are many ways to eradicate aptasia. I am a firm believer in Aiptasia X. I have had wonderful results. You have to be diligent. It comes with a syringe and you squirt small amounts onto the aiptasia. You have to be VERY careful you dont get overspray on surrounding corals. I have a friends plate coral I am nursing back to health after it was burned from him over medicating with Joes Juice or Aiptasia X. Some people use steaming hot water, or lemon juice injections.
