My GSP have been hiding in the purple mat for almost this whole week. All my specs age well and the health of all the other corals could not be better. I've only had them for about 5 months but have never seen retracted this long...

    Any thoughts anyone?

I have a couple different gsp groups and some do that from time to time, some not at all, and some more than others. I have never figured out what makes mine do that either, but it always comes back.

GSP's can close up for a while all the time.
I would try brushing them off with a paintbrush or old toothbrush (any soft-bristled brush really) under the current of a powerhead. Sometimes stuff accumulates on them and needs to be brushed off from time to time.

Alright, it has been some time and my GSP are still acting odd. I did brush them off and they did start to open up but they only open a little and the full green. They opened a bit but not all they way... Anyone, any thought???

As long as your water params are okay, your lighting is good (bulbs are not too old, etc.), temp is constant, and no major changes in flow, I would not stress too much. My GSP closed up for about 10 days...then kind of started opening up...and about 10 days after that it opened all the way up and has not really closed since. The colony I have is like 3 years old, and it goes through periods like this.

I will watch it the params (which are perfect) , all other coral are fine, no issues. It has been 30 days, and I am at a loss. The purple mat looks healthy but the shoots dont really come out.

They just act werid sometimes. 30 days is more than mine have gone but who knows, maybe it's a crazy GSP. Give it time...
