I'm am a total newbie at this aquarium hobby, so new that my 46 bowfront tank hasn't arrived from the shop yet. I do have a stand to put it on.

Since I am soooo new at this I haven't started any bad habits yet, but I'm sure I'll develope a few along the way.:-[

I do believe that a FOWLR will be the set up I want and I do realize that with a 46 gallon tank I'll have limitations. I'm good with that. I want my tank to look natural, have a few fish, outstanding lighting in a clean environment. I also don't want to break the bank on this venture. My wife won't allow me to anyway. :-X

    Cheers,
    Greg

Welcome to 3 reef 20 ducks

a FOWLR sounds like a good place to start
I do however predict a reef set up in your future, if you enjoy the FOWLR, as it is a progression many of us on here have been through

Welcome! Like what was said above, trust me, you'll want a reef.:) I'd recomend only adding reef safe fish so that if you do decide to add corals, it won't be a mess trying to catch fish.:)

lol! I started off with a FOWLR idea to! Alot of equipment is sitting in my basement because i decided to do the reef thing and it just wasn't up for the task! i'd say up the lights more than you think you'll need, as well as the skimmer, live rock(debatable) and think of maybe adding a hob refugium if you do decide to add some corals! Welcome to the hobby, I'm a NOOB to the reef thing and these guys/gals have been great! Enjoy your fishy's! Maybe let your wife pick out the second or third fish and show her a few neat corals on the way! She'll have a vested interest and then you'll definitely need that new led light system!lol! Gotta make her fish happy!lol

Sort of rub it on thick on how much you love her for letting you do this. Make it a habit as im sure the tank will become one. Put the tank where you to can snuggle and look at it together and man you get what you want. lol
