Before you judge, please read the whole thing. I have a 22 Gallon with a skimmer rated for 90 gallon (octopus bh-100). Also, please read all of my tank specs in my signature before commenting. Anyways, i have quite a problem with hair algae. I was wondering if i could put a little baby yellow tang in my tank until it outgrows it. I have my dads 90 gallon ready for it as soon as i feel the need to move it. My lfs is selling a little baby tang for 15 bucks its about 2 inches. I heard tangs wipe out hair algae like no other. Is it worth a shot or is that completely unethical and out of the question?

YT's are not the algae destroyers other tangs are, I would suggest a bristletooth tang instead.
As long as you move the tang out before it gets too big, I don't see much harm in that.

Not what i heard! some people say that after the first 10 minutes of the tang being in their tank it started picking at it and eventually wiped it out. Well anyways thanks for your input. It probably just depends on the tang. but can you imagine my collection cup after just one day with a tang in my tank!!

Another case of smell checker not doing as we expect. ;)

Defiantly and definitely come up on the same list, but can dramatically alter the meaning of a sentence:)

I have never seen YT's destroy algae. Like dingo stated, they will pick at it, but I would not expect one to destroy HA.

Tomini tangs are a smaller one, just like a kole tang as well. Koles are cheap and easily found at LFS.

Soooo, how's about fixing your water so that the hair algae doesn't grow instead?
