halide ballast problem ?

    hey guys i have something going on with my halides heres whats happening i bought 2 brand new 150w halides about a 45 days ago i have them next to eachother on the tank and heres whats happening when i turn them on 1 of them has a pink color of light coming from it from first start till sometimes 20 mins later or longer where as the other is the same color from start up till shut down they are 14k bulbs.So i started to think that this maby is a ballast problem i switched the bulbs from fixtures and same thing happens so im guessing its not the bulb any ideas on what this is should i send it back . thanks H&K

    there is usually a start up time where they are off colour for about 10-15 mins. they have a pretty long warm up time. Mine are pink to white to blue they are 150s 20k my friends 250s 20ks almost flicker white to blue for 5 mins.

    Yes, there is a warm up time for halide bulbs. If it takes longer than 20 minutes to get to the "correct" color, then there might be something up.

    Also, new bulbs take a few weeks of use to break in properly. They won't look how they are supposed to until they are broken in.
