So i made it a year in my 55g salt reef.
    thats the good news.
the bad news is that in that year i've only been able to keep a Clarkii and Goby's happy.
i just lost my Regal tang and my Royal Gramma.
    Levels are all great.
Clarkki's, Chromis, and Goby's survived EVERYTHING
EVERYHING else lasts a few weeks and croaks.

    sigh. i am giving up.

anyone suggest any fish that won't die?

i am resloved to just let my Clarkii and Anemone's be the focus of the tank. i am tired of the kids having to watch me flush gorgeious fish. and my wife watch me flush money

    here's what i have in the 55gallon:

    1 large (agressive) Clarkki
    1 large white/pink/blue Goby
    1 small hiding Convict Blenny
    Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
    2 starfish
    3 medium sized Anemone's

around Christmas i'm adding a Velvet Damsel (from my 10g)

maybe a yellow watchman and a couple blue/green chromis

thats about all i think i can keep alive unless you have other suggestions

    thanx

...it is the parameters..lighting ..temp...chemical....it is NOT easy to get it all balanced...I recommend working on getting a nice balance where everything you currently own begins to thrive...then add as you wish...one at a time...after you do the homework to see if what you are providing in a bio is suitable for what you wish to introduce to it. Dont give up...I have thought about it also...but Im glad I did not. it is rewarding.

btw...get the anemones outa there until you get things settled....and dont ADD anything else.

+1,work on water quality for a while.Read threads on here about water quality and chemistry, test, post any qustions,be patient,it may take a little time but you'll get there.Personally,I'd advise against adding the velvet damsel, they are pretty but grow pretty large and become real agressive.
