I was informed by a lfs the my 125 reef tank is big enough for a sweetlips. Specifically told the fish would get 12" long and be a nice addition to the tank....

After doing a little research I see the general opinion is 300+ for the sweetlips. Have I been mislead? My wife and daughter really like the fish... Should I stay away from the fish or consider it?

"As endearing as any juvinile fish in the store, these charming little specimens should be avoided. First of all, they often refuse anything buy live food and even then rarely eat with gusto. Secondly, those that survive will get very big and need an extra-large aquarium"

^ ^ from my saltwater fishes book ^^

this is a good looking fish tho

You have been mislead , a 125 is way too small.

I would drop a hint to that guy next time that maybe if your tank was doubled in volume, then yea. Hes just trying to get a sale, nothing more, nothing less.

Hed probably say a tang would do great in a nano, if it brought in some money. Stinks that some ppl just do not care about the fish's heath and longevity. I would steer clear of any advice that guy gives from now on, just cuz of that.

Props for asking on here, vs buying on impulse!
