Some parts of Trinidad exists swamp land and we have lots of mangroves.
I'm unsure of the different types of mangroves and I've noticed that most people use red mangrove in their refugiums.
Below is a pic of the type of mangroves that grow in abundance locally and I was wondering if I could prune some pieces and successfully keep them in a fuge?

That picture is of a red mangrove so I would imagine it is the right kind. I don't know what time of year they produce seed pods but when they do, you will see them everywhere.

I'm pretty sure that we're allowed to out of the Caroni Swamp area. There is the only protected swamp area here.

Oh great. So they're harvested by seed pods, not fragmenting a piece with some roots?

I am sure you could. If you are allowed, just yank up small ones that are growing. I am pretty sure Red mangroves have areal roots that hang down from the branches. I am sure if you cut a piece of the branch off that had these areal roots and planted it in your tank, it should take and start to produce another plant.

Sounds great, I'll do some more digging around to find out if I'd get in trouble for harvesting before I go on a collection hunt.
    Thanks;)
