I was wondering if anyone has used eggcrate on the bottom of their tank to lift the live rock off of the glass (less pressure points) then placing your sand in the tank after you have the live rock all set up.

With the eggcrate this would also keep sifters from getting underneath the rock display so no chance of a colapse. At least it sounds interesting in theory so was wondering if anyone has done this?

I haven't done this myself but I have seen on here where several other people have.
I'm gonna do it when I start setting up my next tank. Sounds like a good idea.

Yeah I think it was in a post from last year someone had mentioned it thats why I was asking. I am in the middle of piecing my 125 tank together and thought this might be a good idea so was hoping if someone has done it, they could tell me if they liked it or not.

i ahve seen it dont but i would not do it for a few reasons. One its not really needed if u have live sand two it can trap debre underthe sand bed and three not allow sand sifters to really sift if you dont have a deep sand bed.

On the other hand............if used in a couple select areas it may be beneficial as it would create a sort of plenum if there were some circulation through it.
