I have a 28 gallon bowfront tank, and just added a 2.8 gallon HOB refugium. I have it fed by a minijet 404 pump @ the lowest setting (20ish gph I think?). Will I have sufficient water movement to put my heater in the refugium?

    Thanks!

I would think so if it fits.

It should diagonally. It'll be close for sure. But I figured it wasn't worth trying if it wouldnt keep the tank warm :)

Good luck, keep close track of your tank temperature until you are sure it can handle whatever temperature change is needed.

Actually, the 404 is adjustable from 18 - 108gph. 18gph might be a little slow to maintain the temp in the DT. That's not even 1x turnover. If you set it for 60, you would be fine.

Ya, I think I will play with it. The refugium doesnt drain super fast, so I feel safest at 18. I gotta see if the directions say which setting = how many gph.

Also, super dumb question. but I'm a noob so I gotta ask. It's fine that the heater is touching the acrylic, and that the chaeto will grow basically around it, correct?

I wouldn't risk it. The heater can get very hot, and in events where the thermostat has stuck, they have melted through acrylic sumps. Anything growing around it will interfere with the flow and increase that possibility.

I have a 300w titanium heater in my. 3.3g CPR HOB Aquafuge I'm using an mj606 as my intake. The fuge is filled with cheato and a small chunk of LR. Have never had an issue with over heating or the melting of anything. Not saying it isn't possible ;)

Ya, I'm debating it. I have a jager 150w I think. The suction cups aren't working great lately, so I think having it come off and bang against the rocks might be as dangerous. I think I will keep an eye on it in the refugium and just not let the chaeto grow TOO crazy :) Thanks for the input everyone!
