I have a visi therm 200w stealth heater. This morning i woke up and looked at the temp and it shows 77, i know this is an ok temp but i have the heater set to 79/80 because during the day it has been getting to 80-82, with lights off. Weather has been much cooler this week, and i don't want my fish going through big temp swings. Any idea why heater isin't turning on? I think theirs supposed to be like a red light or something to let me know that it's on, and it's not. Heater is only about 7 weeks old

what's strange is i have never seen it turn on. I figured because it was s hot during the summer, it just didn't reach the lower temps. But now that it's cooling off, not even working. I would get a new one if that's the case, but i don't have the spare money.

There is no light on the visi-therm stealth heaters. Well, at least not on mine (2X250W). And it is completely normal for heaters internal thermostat to be slightly off. 2 degrees is really not bad as far as heaters go actually.
Just bump it up a degree on the dial or two and see what happens ;)

ok i'll try that. lol i had thought that there was a way to tell if the heater was on or off so i thought this one had a light like most others. LOL and with it not having a light makes total sense of why i haven't seen one come on :D

I've had 2 that did the same thing. The funny thing, I have an old(like 15 years) ebo jager that will plug in and heat accurately no matter what. I've definitely dropped it, and, it's been through some serious neglect. I had the stealth 250 quit working on me out of the blue in my old 55. I just bought one for my 20 that has since been returned for the same reason. Ticked me off when the lady asked me if I was sure that I didn't want to exchange for merchandise instead of cash. Pretty easy lesson learned for me. Well, I guess not that easy, but, definitely learned.

I'm hopping that's not the case with this one cause I really can't afford a new one right now. Makes me wonder how cold it gets at night

76 still isn't too bad, what have you have it set at? If you don't have a heater, you will probably need to come up with something to keep the temp up if it gets cold at night or during the day, especially with winter approaching.
